History and location:

The house is located in the village of Selvena, hamlet of Castell’Azzara, in the province of Grosseto.
The village is surrounded by greenery and is 694 meters above sea level.

In Selvena rises the ninth-century Aldobrandesca fortress also called Rocca Silvana that played a significant role in the Middle Ages; nowadays what remains is the high and restored tower and the ruins of the two city walls and the ancient stately palace.
In the little village also rises the Church of St. Nicholas of Tolentino, a eighteenth century building.

Located near the foot of the Mount Amiata (1.738 mt), the village was known since the time of the Etruscans and the Romans.

The neighbouring villages are Piancastagnaio, Castel del Piano, Arcidosso, Sorano, Pitigliano and Sovana, just to name a few, and they are all characterized by the high quality of wine and food being located between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, areas of historic makings of wines like Morellino di Scansano, Montalcino or Nobile di Montepulciano.

Other points of interest are the Val d’Orcia, the Chianciano thermal baths, Rapolano, Bagno Vignoni, the thermal baths of San Filippo, Saturnia, Sarteano, San Casciano and Pienza.

Historical figures of the village: Blessed Guido of Selvena, native of Selvena who lived in the second half of the thirteenth century.

On the ground floor there is an independent courtyard with barbecue, entrance hall, living room, kitchen and bathroom.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a hallway and another bathroom. The house can accommodate up to 8 people.
